Helpful SharePoint 2010 Resources for End Users

I was wandering across the web to find useful getting started type information about SharePoint 2010 and came across this more than useful Microsoft Office site for learning SharePoint 2010. (Also links for SharePoint 2007 and SPS 2003)

Sharepoint Server Help

It provides links to almost every aspect of SharePoint 2010 from end user perspective and also provides links to Trainings and Community content. The topics covered are:

SharePoint 2010 Capacity Management Resource Center

Microsoft announced the Capacity Management Resource Center for SharePoint 2010 on their official Sharepoint blog today. Capacity planning resources for Sharepoint 2007 were released quite later after the official product release and those were a bit complicated to use in my opinion for initial product starters and administrators. This time hopefully Microsoft has made capacity planning for Sharepoint 2010 simpler. The capacity management resource center can be accessed at (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/ff601870.aspx ). There are a lot of deployment planning resources available on the site as well like sample topologies, search architecture, white papers etc. Three main topics have been provided to get you started:
  1. Capacity management and sizing overview
  2. Software boundaries and limits
  3. Storage and SQL Server capacity planning
Good to see Microsoft committing to properly document capacity planning early in the product release.

Welcome to my blog

Hello everyone, this is my first post on this blog so let me just introduce myself and this blog. I'm currently working in a technology company where my job is to take care of the Microsoft part of the IT projects which means suggesting suitable Microsoft technologies, handling licensing of Microsoft products and implementing Microsoft solutions. My path to SharePoint began four years back when i started working for my current employer. Back then it was Sharepoint Portal Server 2003 aka SPS, i did some webpart development in the start. The purpose back then was to implement a Business Process Management solution in SharePoint by integrating it with a popular BPMS. As you might know, workflows were absent in that version of SharePoint so we had to use the BPMS for workflows, it was some pain integrating the two but the experience was none the less very helpful in my quest to get to know SharePoint better. Along the way, i got to work with other Microsoft technologies as well like Team Foundation Server, Project Server, InfoPath and SQL Server to name a few. Now about this blog, as the name suggests, i will be focusing mainly on SharePoint products and technologies in this blog but other technology related stuff might come up too. You are all welcome to contribute to this blog by adding your valuable comments.
